The John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge is a 550-acre protected area in Rhode Island, primarily safeguarding the largest wintering population of black ducks in the state, along with other migratory waterfowl and shorebirds. While not extensively developed for human visitors, it offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing, and paddling from the periphery, particularly along the Narrow River.
